Support Uganda
There is a lot to be thankful for when it comes to the support of BCMW in Uganda. We are very excited about what the Lord is doing in Uganda and thank you for all your support!
Peace in Our Circumstances
The three grand themes of our training are: 1) sufficiency of Scripture, 2) every-believer ministry, and 3) heart-level change. The result of the training is pastors and church leaders understanding that with the application of gospel truths, believers can have peace in the midst of their difficult circumstances (2 Thes 3:16). The words in this video are a compilation of quotes from the pastors and church leaders who have attended the training.
Strengthening Churches
We are Tom and Patty Maxham, and we desire to bring biblical counseling to the people of Uganda.
Much of the missionary work in the Book of Acts was to strengthen the existing churches (Acts 15:41). Our goal is to glorify God and strengthen the churches with the practical application of God’s Word. To do this, we’re providing church leadership training in Christ-centered biblical counseling (2 Tim 2:2). The pastors and church leaders are being systematically discipled in biblical counseling with four, three-day training modules (one training event every six months) and projects for growth in-between the modules.

Equipped for Soul Care
Most pastors and church leaders in Uganda have not been trained in caring for their churches. There is little gospel grace, no counseling process, and often they are not even using the Bible. In this training, they are being equipped in a way that is first changing their own hearts, blessing their families, enabling them to care for their church, and training others for the work of soul care (Eph 4:12).
Biblical Counseling Libraries
Most pastors and church leaders in Uganda have never owned or read a book on biblical counseling. We are providing hand-selected books and developing regional libraries in Rukungiri, Mbale, Luweero, and Kampala. Additionally, four biblical counseling books are provided and assigned as projects for growth as a part of the module training events. Thousands of books to date have been supplied to pastors and church leaders in Uganda.
Conference Stretch Break
During a long day of training at Tom and Patty’s biblical counseling training in Uganda, everyone took a break Uganda style. They are fun-loving people who love music and dance. Stretching out their bodies, they all sang, “We are one in Christ!” They danced from their seats, around a large quad area, and then right back into their seats to continue the training. You might find Patty dancing too if you look closely. “Ama tualu Ama tualu Yesu ma alia” We are one in Christ!
