Bruce & Kim Havens

In 2019, we met Alex Soto, a missionary intern, while introducing biblical counseling to churches in Cuenca, Ecuador. Our friendship has grown over the years while God prepared each of us for this partnership in Nicaragua. Alex is now a pastor in Managua and partners with a group of churches which train leaders in a Bible Institute. If the Lord wills, CLT training will begin in 2023 or 2024.

Bruce and Kim’s story

Both of us were raised in Christian families in Northeast Ohio and saved by God at eight years old. Kim and I were married in 1996. In the local church, spiritual people discipled and encouraged us as we served in various capacities. God placed a desire in our hearts to serve others as others had invested in us, so we sought training and changed vocations.

Since 2007, Bruce has served as pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Brewerton, NY. Kim has served alongside him in many valuable ways. Both have counseled in the Restoration Counseling Ministry at CBC since 2018.

Bruce received a Master of Divinity from Baptist Bible Seminary in 2007, ACBC certification in 2022, and a Doctor of Ministry from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2023. Throughout the years, Kim has taken several courses and received training in biblical counseling.

We have three adult children (Isaac, Zach and Hannah) and have officially entered the empty nest phase. We welcomed Haley into our family who married Zach in 2023.
