Ernie & Rose Baker

Rose and I have been in ministry for 41 years, both in pastoral ministry and as a professor in undergraduate and graduate programs. We have served mainly in Virginia (Harvest Baptist Church) near Virginia Tech (Go Hokies!) and at The Master’s University in Southern California. We have also had the privilege from the Lord of teaching the Bible and or doing mediations on 6 continents. I still serve as the chair of the on-line degree in Biblical Counseling at TMU.

I have a B.A. in Bible from Washington Bible College; M.Div. from Capital Bible Seminary, and D.Min. in pastoral counseling from Westminster Theological Seminary. I am a Fellow with The Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and a certified conciliator with The Institute for Christian Conciliation.

Rose and I are passionate about people and serving them for the glory of God. I love mentoring and discipleship. It is wonderful watching people grow in relationship with the Lord and each other. In other words, we are passionate about The Great Commission. I am also excited about the relevance of the Bible for the many counseling issues humans face. My favorite verse is Romans 11:36.

I enjoy studying The American Civil War, gardening, and hunting.

We are blessed with 3 boys and 3 girls, and 5 are married. We have 11 grandchildren. “I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are walking in truth” (3 John 4). Ernie is the author of Marry Wisely, Marry Well, Help! I’m in a Conflict and Help! Disability Pressures my Marriage. He has also contributed chapters to 4 other books and written many journal and magazine articles.
